Sex abuse in a school setting is a major problem, reaching what seems like epidemic proportions recently, especially in Pennsylvania. With the Jerry Sandusky Penn State sex abuse scandal and the Philadelphia area coach sex abuse scandal, sex abuse in schools is unfortunately, nothing new.

It’s barely spring and so far this year, there have been multiple teacher-student school sex abuse cases in Pennsylvania.

Delaware County Elementary School Teacher Accused of Sexually Abusing Multiple Young Students

In one of the most disturbing cases, a Delaware County second grade teacher is accused of sexually abusing multiple students, spanning almost 10 years. Eight victims have come forward, and more are expected. The teacher has since been charged in two separate cases, filed this year. He faces 44 counts of institutional sexual assault, indecent assault on a person under the age of 13, and corruption of minors. The preliminary hearing for both cases is set for May 9, 2014.

According to a local news report, one of the students reported the abuse to school authorities nearly 10 years ago, when she was 10 years old and in the 5thgrade. However, nothing was done. Source: philadelphia.cbslocal.com, More Girls Accuse Former 2nd-Grade Teacher of Sex Abuse in Delco
