Jerry Sandusky is now sitting in a prison cell, waiting for sentencing. His victims can finally feel safe, knowing that he can not, will not ever hurt any other innocent children. After 20 hours of deliberating over nearly 50 charges of child sexual abuse, the jurors found Sandusky guilty of nearly all of the charges. Deliberating in just 20 hours on roughly 50 counts means that the jurors were easily convinced of Sandusky’s guilt. Twelve people talking about just one count can take one hour. These jurors talking through 48 counts in 20 hours shows that they found the victims credible and discounted the defense theories. This result is a true victory for the victims. Their voices were not only heard, they were believed and Sandusky is likely to spend the rest of his life in prison. His defense lawyer, Joe Amendola, has indicated Sandusky will appeal. However, an appeal will take several years and is unlikely to be successful.
