One case of priest abuse is terrible in and of itself, but when multiple priests are  investigated for child sex abuse, it is absolutely abhorrent. The Philadelphia Archdiocese began an internal investigation after a Philadelphia Grand Jury in 2011 found child sex abuse to have occurred over a period of decades.  As a result of the investigation, several priests were dismissed for various violations of church standards of behavior:

Philadelphia Priest Francis Feret

Francis Feret was a Monsignor. He is 75 years old and was ordained in 1962. Like Philadelphia Priest George Cadwallader, Feret was deemed “Unsuitable for Ministry” for a substantiated violation of the same behavior standards, or “boundary violations.”

When he was placed on leave, he was at St. Adalbert’s in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His previous assignments include:

  • Immaculate Conception, Levittown (from 1962-1963),
  • Our Lady of Mercy, Philadelphia (from 1963),
  • Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia (from 1963-1982), and
  • Saint Peter, Pottstown (from 1982-1994).

Anyone with any information about priest abuse, clergy abuse, child sexual abuse or sexual abuse is urged to contact the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office:
