Sex abuse

In Philadelphia, sex abuse/assault is commonly perpetrated by persons known to the victims, including:

  • priests/pastors,
  • family friends and relatives,
  • teachers,
  • coaches,
  • day care workers, and
  • medical professionals.

Victims of sexual assault often suffer from long-lasting emotional and psychological scars. Getting help is the first step on the road to recovery.

If you or a loved one was the victim of sexual abuse or sexual assault, you should contact law enforcement to report the crime. Doing so can help prevent further acts of abuse. You can contact the Philadelphia Office of Children and Youth to report child sex abuse at 215-683-4DHS.

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office is located at:

Three South Penn Square
Corner of Juniper and South Penn Square
Philadelphia, PA 19107-3499
