Sex abuse

Sex abuse/assault is commonly perpetrated by persons known to the victims, including:

  • priests/pastors,
  • family friends and relatives,
  • teachers,
  • coaches,
  • day care workers, and
  • medical/mental health professionals.

Victims of sexual assault often suffer from long-lasting emotional and psychological scars. Getting help is the first step on the road to recovery.

If you or a loved one was the victim of sexual abuse or sexual assault, you should contact law enforcement to report the crime. Doing so can help prevent further acts of abuse. To report child sex abuse, please call the Allegheny Office of Children, Youth and Families at 412-473-2000.

The Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) District Attorney’s Office is located at:

436 Grant St., Room #303
